"Yes, you are." I replied sharply. "I'm keeping you with me. I've always needed an assistant. "No!" She shrieked, and she gasped in pain as I twisted the knife in her back. Blood dripped against my shoes. "You don't have a choice." I whispered to her. "Your working for me, whether you like it or not, because now, you can't escape me."

"You're killing me," I accused, weakly. I started feeling numb again. I prayed I died soon. This was torture. "No," He said simply, "I'm not." I was confused. I didn't understand what he was saying. The knife in my back was my fault....? After a moment, I thought he was saying it was my fault because I ran away from him. I should've stayed in bed this morning.

It didn't take very long to get to the store. I rushed because I knew the cops were coming, and if Kaelin heard, I knew she'd scream for help. And then I'd have to kill another ten humans that night. I pulled the knife as gently as I could from her back. She bit her lip, but did nothing else. "You can't leave me; you will always be forced to come back." I explained coldly to her as I worked. "You will have this black ribbon on all the time--it doesn't come off or untie, so don't try something rash, like burning it or cutting it. It won't work and you'll look stupid." She pursed her lips, fisting her hands, but said nothing. "If I call you, because of the ribbon, you will always come. You will do as I ask." "Do I have ANY freedom anymore?" she spat. "Of course you do." I replied. "The freedom I allow you, which, right now, is mostly all of it, unless you give me a reason to restrict it."

I looked away from him, glaring at the floor. The pain in my back was slowly leaving, and the numbing was gone. I felt him tye the ribbon in my hair, like a hairband. About then I felt something shatter inside me. "Lets see... And you can't keep wearing that, its covered in blood..." He muttered. I watched him walk away from me, walking through an open door. It was like he was daring me to leave. I looked down at what I was wearing--he was right. My white skirt looked almost pink around the edges, my blue long sleeve shirt was sticking to my back now. No doubt the rain coat was shredded as well. Even the back of my socks were wet from blood. "You'll need to bathe too," I heard him call, "Let me find something you can change into and you can do that."

Most of my clothes were much to big for her, but they'd have to do. I'd have to drag her into town with me tomorrow. "Here you are." I said, placing the clothes on the counter next to the sink. "Thanks." She sounded very distant, maybe broken, even. "Look," I said, my voice gentle, "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I had to kill your friends. I'm sorry you have to stay with me." I reached out, running my fingers along her cheek. "But I have far less freedom than you in these matters." She looked at me silently, as if she understood in some twisted way. "What's your name?" she asked me softly. I whispered it to her, ordering her never to repeat it for the sake of her sanity. Instead, I suggested she call me Daemon. (he's almost like death...maybe he's something close to it, I dunno) "Daemon." she repeated, forming her lips slowly around the word. "Out." She pointed to the door. I smiled. "Don't you need some help getting out of those wet clothes?" I asked with feigned innocence. "Out." she saod again, her voice firm. I sighed. "Come and find me when you come out," I ordered, closing the door behind me.

I watched him for a moment. When I come out....? I thought it would be easier not to come out from that simple order. But I heard whispering... It was the black band. It was... talking to me....? I shook my head and pulled off my sock and shoes. I wandered through the room untill I found the bathroom. I sighed before turning on the water, stripping down, and climbing into the tub and tried to sort things out.

I’d just sat down when I heard someone enter the store—the only way I realized they were there was because of the bell tied to the knob. “Your late,” I announced, flipping through random channels, not finding one promising show. Funny, how everything could be so normal, after I’d just murdered three people. Wasn’t like they were actually innocent, but still. “At least I even BROUGHT you your money,” Elena stepped into my view—she was the one who was in charge of bringing me the cash I earned from doing the job. If you didn’t know her, she’d look like the perfect angel, with silken blond hair hanging gracefully at her shoulders, her face pale, eyes bright and almost viciously excited. But if you saw the rest of her body, the person under those long cloaks of white she kept herself hidden behind… She extended her hand to me and her fingers and arms were rotten, skin dark and shriveled; she had a corpse’s body. Her nails were yellow and much too long. She smelled like death, but, then again, so did I. “What did you do with the girl?” she asked, nosy as always. Word in our world sure spread fast. “She’s working for me now,” I said simply. Elena grinned, an odd, pointed grin. “I knew you’d use that ribbon on someone sooner or later.” She replied, turning back towards the door. “Until next time, Daemon.”

I scratched at my head, keeping it under the water. The curls were damp, but the ribbon didn't move. It even seemed to stay dry. I gave a small whine before scrbbing the rest of the blood off me. As I climbed out, I caught a glimpse of my back in the mirror. There was a scar from where the knife was. But, it didn't look like a scar, it was black. I brushed my fingers against it, to find it was a hole. I gasped, recoiling away from the mirror. Was I dead? Did I actually die...? I could still feel, I could still talk and breathe but.... I shook my head before getting the clothed he'd set out for me. I was thankful that my under clothes weren't stained at all. I was half disgusted to look in the mirror and see what he'd laid out for me. A black shirt with some band name scrawled across it and worn out black jeans--the kind that are nearly grey wand shredded at the bottom of the legs. I ran my hands through my hair, the ribbon hissing for me to go to Daemon. If he didn't drive me mad, the ribbon would. I guess that was what he meant that it would bring me back; that I couldn't leave him.

“Hey, you’re out!” I met her halfway up the stairs, before I could stop myself, throwing my arms around her. “You look adorable when you’re not bleeding to death.” She said nothing to me, remained motionless in my arms. After a moment, when she saw I wasn’t going to let her go until she spoke to me, she asked, “What band is Nervous System?” and she fit her hand between us to pull at the shirt. “I’ve never heard of them.” I laughed. “Of course you haven’t, they’re in my world. Usually Demon bands really suck, but this one's actually sub-par.” She just stared. I narrowed my eyes at her. “I don’t appreciate being ignored. You are to speak to me and give me adequate answers when I speak to you.” I grinned widely, showing her my mouthful of sharp, gleaming teeth. “Understand?” “I understand.” She said softly. “Well then,” I snapped my fingers at her over my shoulder as I turned to make my way back down the stairs. “I need you to do something for me. Go around and lock up shop, I’ve had quite a day—besides, demon folk can come through the walls if they really need to, locks have nothing on them. Then I want you to make me dinner. You have fifteen minutes.”

I blinked at him. "Well, go," He said, moving so I could go past him. I glared before darting downstairs. I walked through the room quietly. It seemed so...epmty... It made me nervous. I quieckly ran to the door and locked it before searching through the house for the kitchen. I hoped he'd give me a tour later.

I watched from the stairs, cloaked by the darkness, as she ran desperately around the house, latching the locks she could find. She stopped, not seeing me through the darkness, next to the stove in the kitchen, and fell to her knees. I silently made my way back downstairs, standing next to her, and I pulled out a large frying pan from beneath the stove. She looked up at me, confused, her large, teary eyes shimmering in the dim light. I wanted nothing more than to scoop her up and hold her close, tell her that everything would be okay. Instead, I smiled. "Are eggs okay with you?"

I blinked at him, before nodding. "Good, then go sit down. You know, Its been a while since I cooked," He said, almost as theough he was trying to get a conversation going. I didn't respond, sitting at the table. "Didn't I tell you that I don't like to be ignored." "S-Sorry... I just... I'm not sure what to say."
