88. Betreyl I heard her, well, part of me anyway. The bats congregated, starting to form me again. But it was too slow. Another zombie came at me and I separated again, just a black cloud. This may take awhile.
89. Emily I spun around, shooting the zombie behind me. "How many freaking ghouls are there?" "Twenty left exactly." Deimos replied, already ripping the three in front of him apart. I turned around again, and for a split second I swore I saw the top of Trey's head. A ghoul was coming towards him with a large, bloodstained knife, and I ran for him, shooting the zombie through the stomach as I did. But right when I got to where I'd seen Trey, he'd already vanished. "What the hell!" I shouted, slamming my gun against the side of a zombie's head.

90. Betreyl This was entertaining. She was too easily frustrated. I'd worry about that later. Now I swarmed around a zombie, finding it hilarious that it couldn't attack, and had no clue what was going on. Slowly, my little cyclone expanded, engulfing at least ten in the ring.
91. Emily I heard more than one zombie moan in unison. I wheeled around, almost slipping in the puddle of zombie blood at my feet, and I saw, for a split second, a huge cloud of black circling around a huge group of ghouls. Then the large ring crushed them all together. The ghouls seemed to explode, huge puddles of gore dripping down and sinking into the dirt. I fell back, hitting the ground, and watched. All of them were gone now. Then, the black cyclone shifted, floating back down so that it was almost touching the ground, and slowly began to morph into something familiar... After a moment, Trey was the only thing that stood, the black cloud completely gone. "Much better," I heard him say, and he looked at his gloved hand. He looked almost surprised to see the blood spattered there. He licked his finger before turning to me. "You are so easily frustrated," he mocked, resting his blood-soaked hand on the top of my head. "Get off!" I pushed his palm away; I could feel the blood trickling down onto my head. I shivered. "You are so grotesque." He grinned, tipping my chin back with the finger he'd cleaned, and he leaned over me. "You have zombie blood on your face.”

92. Betreyl She pushed me away, wiping her face with her sleeve. I smirked. "Did that bother you? After all, it was easier to get rid of them," I sighed. After separating like that, especially for that long, left me a little unnerved. "I said it once, I will say it again: you are so grotesque!" She muttered. "That’s how some of us. What about you little ghost...? Hmmm? Decapitation, stabbing, what else...? And you say I'm grotesque," I laughed.
93. Emily "Actually, I kinda appreciated it." I rubbed my cheek with my sleeve, making a mental note to dive in a lake if we ever even found one. "But do you have to get blood on me? Even though Deimos does those things, he doesn't wipe his hands on me!" "Who said I was wiping them on you?" he asked, all the while smoothing his palms over my shoulders, making a mess on my coat. But, I also noticed, he was keeping me pinned to the ground that way. I scowled. "I'd seriously like to stand up now." I said through clenched teeth. He smirked. "This is just payback for earlier." My eyes narrowed at him. "I. Hate. You." I hissed.

94. Betreyl I smiled, "I know. It’s obvious." She glared at me, then drove her fist into my stomach, just below my ribs. I grunted, "That hurt." "It was supposed to, now let me up." I glared at her.
95. Emily It was almost scary the way he glared at me. He looked angry again, though not as angry as before. But angry enough. But, to my surprise, he merely pinned my arms to my sides, while managing to hold my legs down as well. He laughed at the look on my face. "Why are you so terrified?" he asked, his voice practically dripping with sarcasm. "It’s not like I'll hurt you or anything." "Yeah, right." I replied. "Just FYI--I can still hit you with my head."

96. Betreyl "Feel welcome to, if you want to get a headache," I laughed. She glared at me. "Why do you insist on acting like a child?" "Not a child, its fun. You’re too serious. Take a break from it. Its not good for you." "If I do that, I'd end up killing the way you do," She muttered. "At least you'd have fun with it."
97. Emily I tried to unpin my leg so I could kick him off, but that guy is as heavy as marble. I lifted my head, tapping my forehead against his to see how much damage I’d cause if I hit him. To him?--nothing. To me?--I'd probably break my skull in two. "Damn it; fine." I rested my head against the dirt, defeated, trying to ignore the squishing sound it made as I did so. "You win. What do you want?" "I just wanna mess with you for a moment." he said cheerily. I shuddered. "Oh God." I said, much to his amusement, and I closed my eyes. "What are you gonna interrogate me with n--?" I felt something cold against my mouth. My eyes shot open, and I saw him, still smiling at me, with his hand pressed firmly against my lips.

98. Betreyl I couldn't help but laugh. “You’re so gullible," I muttered near her ear. I stood, offering my hand to her, "Get up." She glared at me, then stood herself. 'I don't need your help," She muttered, dusting herself off. "If you say so," I muttered, "I just find it hard to believe how gullible you humans are.”
99. Emily "I still hate you." I said, trying to keep from blushing. "Yes, yes. I know." He wiped a smear of blood from his finger and onto my shoulder. Then he continued to walk. "Why me?" I whined, hanging my head and causing the blood on the back of my head to trickle down my neck.

100. Betreyl "Hurry up, Emily," I called over my shoulder, "I doubt you want to be here if more ghouls come." I heard her jog-run more of- to walk by me. We walked in silence.
101. Emily "Could you slow down?" I murmured to break the silence. "Please?" He stared at me from the corner of his eye. And smiled. "Never." But he took my hand in his, pulling me up to his side.
102. Betreyl I sighed, shaking my head when she jumped at my touch, "Humans." "Like you wouldn't have jumped," She pouted. "Of course not," I said matter-of-factly.
103. Emily "Must you prove me wrong constantly?" I asked. He curled his fingers between mine. "It’s almost a habit now,” he murmured. He snickered when he looked up to see me blushing.
104. Betreyl "We should find somewhere to stay. You need to sleep," I said to Emily. "No I don't," She yawned. "Oh really? Try telling me that again, without yawning. Besides that, it’s cold." "No its not," She muttered. "If it’s cold for me, its cold for you," I said draping my coat over hers. She looked at me curiously. I glanced down at her, "Yours is wet anyway."
105. Emily "And whose fault is that?" I said, trying not to laugh. "Not mine, that's for sure." Trey said teasingly. I pulled the sides of his coat closer to me. His jacket was freezing cold, and I shivered. He rolled his eyes. "Humans," he said playfully. "Maybe Casper could warm you up." "Good idea." I said, even though I knew the comment was meant to be venomous. Deimos came up from behind, large black tendrils swirling around his body. "You need me?" he asked. I leaned back so I was pressing against his chest. "I just need you to keep me warm."

106. Betreyl I laughed, seeing the ghost's face. He was trying not to look surprised, but he was. "Is he not used to you being so close?" They both glared at me. I rolled my eyes, "It’s just a joke, calm down. It’s not like I threatened to kill you both." The ghost snarled. God, he was touchy. Emily said something that made him stop, but I wasn't paying attention to them any longer.
107. Emily I swirled a strand of Deimos's hair absently around one finger. "Its okay." I murmured to him. I felt bad after seeing the surprise on his face. "I won't leave you." "And I shall never leave you." he said hollowly into my ear. I glared at Trey's back. I wanted to say something to him, something that would hit a nerve, but nothing would come to mind. I felt Deimos wrap his arms around my stomach.
108. Betreyl I started think about Fawn again. Where did her body go...? She couldn't have moved on her own unless... I stopped, "Fawn's not dead." "Why'd you stop?" I lost focus, starting to remember what had happened. I'd helped Emily out of a pile of ruble... Then was attacked, by what...? It had resembled an animal, but which. I sighed. It could've been Fawn, or not.

109. Emily "Not that stupid little girl again." I sighed, crossing my arms over Deimos's. "Why can't she just die like a normal person?" "I already told you!" Trey replied sharply. "We are not like you! It takes much more than a bullet to the stomach for us to die." "How 'bout two bullets?" He growled softly, wheeling around to face us. "Okay, sorry." I scratched at the blood drying across my head. "What do you suppose we do, huh?"
110. Betreyl "We can only die at the hands of our own kind," I muttered. "You've got to be kidding." I glared, "I will kill her. Even if I have to die as well. I deserve it as it is."

111. Emily I gave him a dubious look. "You have too much fun throwing pity-parties, don't you?" he growled at me again, and it was all I could do to keep from laughing. "Snap your neck..." he threatened softly. "Fine, I'll stop." I muttered in a defeated way. "Hey, I say we stay in this place." I pointed to the house closest to us, and I'd singled it out mostly because it didn't look as thrashed or destroyed as the others did. In other words, the roof wouldn't collapse while we slept. As soon as the last word left my mouth, Trey kicked the door down. "Cool. Home sweet home." he whistled as he walked trough the doorframe.
112. Betreyl Emily carefully stepped in beside me. "It’s fine. There’s nothing here," I sighed, dropping to sit on an old beat up couch, “It doesn't look like anyone’s been here for years." "All the same..." "Either Casper or I would know if there was something here, right?" "Yeah..." She sighed. "And I don't seem anything. We're fine," I sighed, leaning back, folding my arms behind my head and closing my eyes.

113. Emily I plopped down on his legs, watching as one eye cautiously opened. "Fine, I guess I'm pretty safe for the moment." Deimos melted into the shadows at my feet, leaving the vampire and me seemingly alone. He smirked. I stared at him with wide eyes and leaned as far away as possible from his face. Then, he slowly began to sit up. "Da dum. Da dum." "Shut up!" I laughed, pushing on his shoulder. "The Jaws Theme is so old now, Trey." He just quickened up, and at the very end, he grabbed my shoulders roughly and laughed at the terrified look on my face. "C'mon Emily, when was the last time I hurt you?" he asked. "Weeell," I said, a little shakily. "First there was the time—" "Okay, I get the point." he replied, cutting me off. "But, just so you know, Jaws and me both like to eat people." "Do you have any idea how scary that sounded?" I asked. "You cannibal." "Not true," he disagreed. 114. Betreyl I pulled her back against me, "Go to sleep, you need it." She seemed really uneasy to be so close to me. ”Relax," I muttered, "You’re safe. Nothing can get you with us around."
115. Emily As soon as I felt his hands on my shoulders, I couldn't help but stiffen up. And it didn't help one little bit that he was pulling me against him, the only things between us the torn up jackets I found I was still wearing. "T-Trey..." I began, shifting my weight as he slipped his arms around my waist as if he was hugging me, just as Deimos had done only minutes before. "Just relax," he repeated patiently. "How can I relax when I'm on top of you?" I asked softly. "Oh, right," he replied, and I could hear the smile in his voice as he tipped us both to the side. "Better?" "Sure." I managed. It was so hard to keep my voice from shaking. He rested his forehead against the back of my hair, where all the zombie blood had dried. "Um, Trey, it probably doesn't smell too nice bac--" Then I felt him lick a dried trail on the back of my neck. "You are sooo not helping with the whole relax thing!" Then I heard him laugh softly under his breath.

116. Betreyl "Just sleep," I muttered, closing my eyes. She muttered something under her breath, deciding to relax against me, "Your fine." It wasn't long before I fell asleep. But something woke me up. I growled, opening my eyes. Three men—each had a gun, all trained on me. "What...?" I sat up. One shot fired, clipping my shoulder. "We're asking the questions," One said. I snarled, baring my teeth. Another shot, catching the side of my neck. He noticed Emily move. I glared at her. She froze. "How do you know our master?" "Master...?" Another shot, this one getting my side. "Our master, Oasis." I blinked, "Oasis...? She's dead." Another shot, this one getting my arm. "How do you know her?" He pressed. "I killed her family. Everything she knew. I took her eyes," I snarled, crouching over Emily. "This human, what is she to you?" I blinked in surprise. "What is she to you?!” "...I…”

117. Emily I watched Betreyl’s face carefully, trying to predict his answer. What did I mean to him; truly mean to him? “Answer me!” the man shouted. Then, I saw Trey’s arm shoot up, grabbing the man by the throat and snapping his neck with a sickening crack. “Deimos!” I cried, and my Guardian sprouted elegantly from the ground, baring his teeth at the remaining men. “You will not touch her,” he growled, his red eyes flashing. Trey dropped the man’s body to the floor, smirking at his companions. “This is what you get for shooting me,” he said in a soft, dangerous voice. Then he rushed for the man nearest to him. The man merely smiled, then tore down the drapes shielding the window behind him—it was something the three of us hadn’t seen. “No!” I shrieked, just as sunlight poured over Trey’s face and shoulders. He stopped dead, his skin beginning to blacken, just as Deimos plunged his fist through the man’s head. I, however, tackled the last man left. “What did you do to him?!” I shouted, grabbing him by the collar and pounding him again and again on the rotting floorboards. “You better tell me now where that stupid little bitch is before I strangle you!” “I won’t tell you anything.” He smirked at me. Then I saw Deimos’s long, clawed fingers twist the man’s neck roughly to the side, and I heard it break. Then the ghost swept across the house, quickly replacing the torn drapes the best he could. I crouched next to Trey. His skin had turned gray, but his face was covered with burns that had already turned black. “Is he alive?” I whispered, feeling tears drip down my face. “Positive,” “How…how late am I?” “Not late at all.” My eyes widened as I heard Trey’s voice, and I looked down to see that his mouth was moving. “I need something…since you’re the only person around,” Even though he was badly burned, he could still give me that smirk. Then he gripped my shoulder, pulling me down to his level, and kissed me.
(OMFG!)

118. Betreyl About a million things flashed through my mind at once. The main one was, "What the hell am I doing?" Another was to push her away at once... But I couldn't bring myself to do it. I heard her gasp as my lips touched hers, but didn't see her face. I kept my eyes closed-still sensitive. But I felt her. She moved closer. I heard Deimos yawn... I think... My senses were still recovering... Slowly.
119. Emily He pulled me even closer, so hard that I almost lost my balance. I was too surprised to even move. I watched as my tears from earlier dripped onto his burned cheeks, and then I winced as I felt him bite my lip. I tried to pull back on instinct, but the hand on my shoulder kept me exactly where he wanted. More tears seemed to come from nowhere, surprising me, since I never, ever used to cry, even when the pain was unbearable. And somehow, I didn't want this to end.

120. Betreyl I almost felt guilty about how good this tasted, but I pushed it away. I felt the burns fading. It didn't take long before they were gone. I gently let her go. "Emily?" She blinked at me, "Y-yes?" "Are you alright?" She nodded eagerly. I sighed, "Sorry."
121. Emily “Don’t be,” I murmured, fingering the cut on my bottom lip. It was no longer bleeding and already felt swollen. But truthfully I couldn’t care less. “Are you better?” He smirked, wiping a small trail of blood from his chin. “You tell me.” He replied, taking my hand in his and pressing my palm to his cheek. “Am I still covered in burns?” “No,” I said with a small smile. “But you,” he reached up to my face. “Are covered in tears. Did it hurt that much?” “Truthfully no,” I looked down at the floor. “I’d just thought you’d died.” “It’ll take way more than that,” he brushed the tears from my cheeks with his thumb. “To kill me.”
