63.Emily "Why are you so insistent?" I demanded. He stared at me with one eyebrow raised. "...Insistent...how?" "Its almost like your determined to drag me back to that village--though I clearly don't want to return--and afterwards I know your gonna be hauling me to Cetbal." He grinned. "You are such a bright girl,” he said sarcastically, tugging at the pigtail closest to him.

64. Betreyl Even I didn't know why I was forcing her to come, But it was nice to have some company. Then a small sound caught my attention. I paused, listening. "Betreyl--?" I cut her off, still listening, "Do you hear that?" "Hear what?" "Of course not. You're human," I sighed, "It sounds like singing...." "Singing...?"

65. Emily “Positive,” Deimos said behind me. “I hear it too.” At times like this I hated being the only human, since it happened whenever I was alone with Deimos as well. I pulled my hair from Trey’s grasp, since he seemed to have forgotten he was still holding it, and tried my hardest to listen.

66. Betreyl I carefully stalked forward, abandoning the road. Where was it coming from? I snarled. "What ever it is, it can't be good... Let’s just keep going."
67. Emily I kicked a rock from my path. “Did Fawn like to sing?” I muttered. “She’s not that stupid,” Trey replied simply.
68. Betreyl I stepped forward just enough to see a group of people marching... People from a church. I nearly laughed. So, they were trying to ward off the ghouls. "I'll give 'em a demon they can't ward off," I muttered smiling, dropping to a crouch.

69. Emily I watched him wearily. "What are you doing now?" He scoffed lightly at me. "I'm gonna have a bit of fun, is all." he said simply, and I followed his gaze to the remaining people that had somehow managed to survive in their demon-infested village. I glared, dropping onto my knees next to him. "Don't. You. Dare." I hissed through clenched teeth. "You may NOT eat them, Trey, you hear me?" The corners of his mouth twitched upwards. "Look," I curled my fingers over his shoulders, trying to turn him around so he would have to face me. "There are bodies everywhere. There's plenty of blood in them; there's a well filled with them! Just don't eat the survivors; it’s cruel!" He didn't even seem to be listening to me anymore. I shook him with all my might. "You could even bite me again; just do not touch those people!" "You are very noble." he replied, before he vanished from beneath my hands.

70. Betreyl I t was somewhat hard to believe how easy it was to vanish from her. I dropped down on the group, only to jump back again. Stakes. Of course. I smiled again. "This will be fun. Too bad it won’t last long," I muttered, pulling out my gun. "Trey!" I could hear Emily from here. Jesus, she was loud. I sighed, shaking my head. Back to the hunt.

71. Emily I tore through the dead grass, grinding my teeth together in anger. "You little asshole; get back here!" I barely saw a flash of dark red as he headed for the people gathered outside the church. It was almost unbearable to look at them; the men all had looks of grim determination on their faces, yet the women looked more than terrified, clutching their children close as if that could save them. They had no idea what was coming for them. No idea that their deaths could be worse than they believed. "Betreyl!" I screamed, and then turned to Deimos, who floated stealthily behind me. "Deimos, stop him now!" He rushed past me, so all I saw of him was the black of his torn coat as it blew behind him. Yet his words floated back to me gently on the wind: "As you wish." Then my Guardian opened his mouth, his large, pointed teeth visible even from where I stood. He snarled loudly, baring his yellowed teeth and blackened gums, and uttered something in a language I didn't understand. It all happened very fast then.

72. Betreyl I leapt back as Deimos stepped in front of me, growling. I crouched growling back. "Out. Of. My. Way." I snarled. His eyes narrowed. I watched the group behind him turn tail and run, "Great. Now I've lost my prey." I leapt at him, only to have pain explode through my side. That’s right. I thought as I fell to the ground, Ghost. I stood shakily, hand over my side. That'd leave a mark later. His face didn't change. He just...stared. I blinked. He could've been nerve wracking. I gasped as the pain grew worse; I looked down at my side, then back up again. He was right in front of me, blade though my heart. I gasped, snarling. I could feel the blood roll out of my mouth. "That... was a cheap shot, Casper," I muttered.

73. Emily I placed a hand on my Guardian's shoulder. "That'll do." I said, sounding a bit smug even to myself. I bent to Trey's level; he'd fallen to one knee, a trail of blood running down his chin, his hand gripping his side in tight fingers. "Next time, you'd better listen to me." I hissed, clenching my teeth. He glared at me with so much fury I thought he would strangle me on the spot. "You little..." he paused, spitting blood at my feet. “...Bitch." "You were asking for it." My eyes narrowed at him. "I never met someone so cold. Your mood changes like the weather; one minute you’re happier than ever and the next you’re bent on wiping out the first people you laid eyes on! I can see now how you could live with killing an entire city; you're a monster." I never meant for my words to sound so venomous. They were even hurting me; if I kept this up I feared I'd start crying. And the look on his face wasn't helping a bit. "I see." he murmured, and the look of hurt on his face was replaced again by some sort of fury; he was suddenly on his feet, grabbing me by the throat with one blood-drenched hand.

74. Betreyl "Just because I killed a town doesn't make me a monster. Tell me. When man made a nuclear bomb and attacked china, or wherever the hell it was, for revenge, did he become a monster...? Is a hunting wolf a monster for killing a herd of sheep? Think about it," My hand fisted even more. She gave out a cry, pulling at my hand. "Is he?!"
75. Emily I winced as his fingers tightened. "You’re a monster..." I gasped, pulling at his fingers. "...Because...you can kill...without feeling a thing..." I cried out, the noise coming out soft, as his fingers crushed even harder. "A wolf feels nothing." he replied sharply. "He kills for food, which I was doing just now. Am I still a monster, Emily?" "If you killed them...you would be..." I felt my feet lift from the ground. "Please...try to understand..." "It would be so easy," he hissed to me, "to snap your neck and end all of this human nonsense." I stared down at him, still pulling at his hand. My voice could no longer work; no air was reaching my lungs. So I merely mouthed, "Then do it."

76. Betreyl I blinked at her, muscles relaxing. I let her drop to the ground. I was confused. What had just happened...? I closed my eyes, head bowed, "You're right, Emily. It’s true I am a monster, but that’s how everyone in the world is, isn't it? No one is eternally good. There is not one person who has not killed in this world," I looked at her, "If anyone needed to die…” I shook my head, sighing.
77. Emily I felt dread prickle down my spine and I coughed, hands flying to my throat. Trey watched with a remorseful look on his face. "No." I said softly, my voice hoarse. "Please, don't say that. Never say that." I pulled my legs up to my chest, resting my forehead on my knees as I gasped for air. "I-I'm sorry." I said, my voice cracking. "Y-You're totally r-right." Next to me, I felt Deimos place a hand on my shoulder, and the words 'Indecent Exposé’ crossed my mind. Then, I heard Trey shift his position, and when I looked up he was just beginning to kneel in front of me. I felt my face turn red and I pulled my legs closer. But, if he noticed, he gave no sign. "Are you all right?" he asked in a strangely hollow voice. "Your face is red." "I should be asking you that." I replied shakily. "You are going to bleed to death." That one hand never left the gaping wound; even the slice in his chest wasn't as bad. I reached out, hesitant, to see if his mood would change again. He was so unpredictable; I feared that if I went too fast he'd snap my wrist. "Let me help you..." I began, my voice still barely a whisper, when I watched the wound heal itself from under his fingers. "You, my friend," he took my face in his other hand; "are the most foolish human I've met." he spat out one last mouthful of blood. "So very foolish." For a moment, I thought he meant it; then I could see the small smile on his face.

78. Betreyl She smiled weakly back at me, "And you are the most confusing..." She thought of the right words for a moment, "Person I have ever met." I smirked, "That I am and always will be." "What now?" she asked. "Well, we should continue to look for somewhere to stay... That is unless Casper wants to lop my head off to see what happens," I smirked, growling.
79. Emily "Don't give me ideas." I laughed weakly. I cast a quick glance at Deimos to see if Trey's words affected him; the ghost was as stoic as ever. For a split second he met my eyes with his red ones; I could tell he wasn't hearing a word we were saying. His mind was elsewhere, probably somewhere much more important than this. "Can ghouls enter the church?" I asked. Both Deimos and Trey grimaced at the same moment the word left my mouth. "That is not a very...good place for us to hide." Trey said slowly. "Positive." Deimos confirmed. "Ghouls may not enter holy ground, yet neither can beings as ourselves." I sighed. "Where to?" I asked wearily. Trey smiled. "I'm in the mood to kill,” he murmured. "Fine." I whispered. "But I trust you'll only get zombies?" He nodded enthusiastically. "I'll sit and watch." But I didn't have a second to spare before his fingers circled around my wrist.

80. Betreyl I hauled her off the ground, momentarily forgetting that I was still bleeding. "Trey! I don't wanna go fight!" She whined. "If you do, we'll probably find somewhere they can't get us." "But Trey...!" "No! You’re coming. So is Casper. It’s final. Don't forget, I can drag your ass back if you run."
81. Emily "You're so damn stubborn!" I whined softly, tugging at his hand. "You practically throttled me back there." "Well, you tried to gut me." He responded, slipping his large gun from his pocket. "If I were you, I'd get ready. We're almost to the first house." Sighing, I took one of my pistols from my coat.
82. Betreyl I paused. It was too damn quiet nowadays around here. "Now what?" She whined, "I don't hear anything." "Exactly. Neither can I..." I muttered, dropping her hand, and stalking forward, cocking my gun. I glanced around the corner. Nothing. "Well... Crap."

83. Emily I felt goose bumps rise on my arms. Damn it...I thought, throwing myself to the side just in time to dodge a large, rusted sickle that had been thrusted in my direction. It buried itself in the dirt, directly where I'd been standing a moment before, and then the ghouls seemed to come from nowhere.
84. Betreyl I brought my gun up, firing. But looking down, I saw that one of them had gotten me with a butcher's knife. Calmly, I put the gun away, "Are you in for some trouble now." I pulled the blade out, leaping at the nearest one, taking its head off. I let the blade drop before rushing at another, ripping its heart out. If blood splattered me, I didn't notice, I was having too much fun.
85. Emily I stabbed the ghoul in front of me through the stomach, shooting the second through the forehead with my raised gun. "Crap," I muttered. Deimos didn't even need orders from me to fight anymore. He swung his knives in a full circle, killing at least a dozen demons in less than a second. Another one was coming for me with a butcher's knife in his rotting fingers. He swung at me, and I fell to the ground as I placed the soles of my boots against his stomach. I heaved him over me, and he the ground with a squish, his neck disconnecting from his body. Then, from off to the side, more zombie blood was splattered against my face.

86. Betreyl I sighed, closing my eyes, feeling as though as I was falling apart, and I kinda was. I was splitting into many pieces, bats. It made it a bit easier to fight, with a small advantage.
87. Emily I jumped as something black brushed past my cheek. What the...? I thought, ducking underneath a zombie's knife just in time. I watched as the black thing caught the zombie's attention just long enough for me to shoot him--three times--between the eyes. Deimos came up next to me, his weapons dripping sticky black liquid in the dirt. "Finished already, Dei?" I asked, shooting another ghoul who was crawling towards my feet. "Positive." he answered. "You need my help, Emily." "Nope, I'm good." Something gripped my wrist, just as Deimos sawed through its shoulder, cleaving the ghoul's body in half. "It was not a question." he replied coolly. I scowled, giving him more time to prove me wrong by killing another three zombies that were heading straight for me. "Hey, Deimos," I whispered. "Where’d Trey go, anyway?"
